Dear All
I am conducting a review of parametric and non-parametric efficiency
measurement techniques in healthcare services. My focus is on low-income
(2003 GNI per capita < $765) and lower-middle-income (GNI per capita $766-
3035) countries. To date I have only managed to identify the following 7
papers:
1. Al-Shammari M. A multi-criteria data envelopment analysis model
for measuring the productive efficiency of hospitals. International
Journal of Operations and Production Management 1999; 19(9): 879-890
2. Dervaux B, Leleu H, Valdmanis V, Walker D. Parameters of control
when facing stochastic demand: a DEA approach applied to Bangladeshi
vaccination sites. International Journal of Health Care Finance and
Economics 2003; 3(4): 287-299.
3. Kirigia JM, Emrouznejad A, Sambo LG. Measurement of technical
efficiency of public hospitals in Kenya: using data envelopment analysis.
Journal of Medical Systems 2002; 26(1): 39-45
4. Ramanathan TV, Chandra KS, Thupeng WM. A comparison of the
technical efficiencies of health districts and hospitals in Botswana.
Development Southern Africa 2003; 20(2): 307-320.
5. Sarkis J, Talluri S. Efficiency measurement of hospitals: issues
and extensions. International Journal of Operations and Production
Management 2002; 22(3): 306-313
6. Valdmanis V, Walker D, Fox-Rushby JA. Are vaccination sites in
Bangladesh scale efficient? International Journal of Technology
Assessment in Health Care 2003; 19(4): 692-697.
7. Zere E, McIntyre D, Addison T. Technical efficiency and
productivity of public sector hospitals in three South African provinces.
South African Journal of Economics 2001; 69(2): 336-358
I would be very grateful if members of the list would check the above
references and let me know of other studies, published or unpublished, and
if possible send me a soft or hard copy of it / them.
Many thanks, Damian
