ACTUARIAL SCIENCE POSITIONS ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University
announces two tenure track openings in Actuarial Science, beginning with the
2005-2006 academic year (Position numbers 107070 and 107130).
Rank for position number 107070 is assistant/associate professor. Rank for
position number 107130 is open. Rank and salary are dependent on
qualifications and experience. A terminal degree in mathematical sciences
or an actuarial-related field, such as economics or finance, is required for
tenure; a master's in mathematics or actuarial-related field is required for
appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with complete (or
nearly complete) SOA or CAS associate credentials and/or industry
experience.
Other requirements include a broad-based actuarial/business background,
excellence in teaching/communication/presentation skills, and advanced
skills in mathematics of economics/financial mathematics. Candidates are
expected to teach undergraduate/graduate courses, conduct research/scholarly
activities, establish partnerships with industries, mentor students, and
assist with program and curriculum development.
