The Place of Languages in the Curriculum

Dear Colleague
You are warmly invited to attend the above event which will be
presenting the outcomes of a number of key projects and initiatives
which are of strategic importance to the position of languages in the
Higher Education curriculum.
Speakers and topics include:
Hilary Footit: Languages and the development of values
Nick Byrne (LSE): Reasons for language learning: an IWLP perspective
Angela Gallagher (Subject Centre LLAS): 700 reasons to study a
language.
The Rationales Project carried out by the Subject Centre has put
together a searchable database of reasons for studying a language taken
from both literature and learner data.
Dawn Leggott, Jane Stapleford (Leeds Met): Languages and the
development of key skills for employment
