Hi Anne
There is also a package used widely in Canada called OmniRIM. The web site
if you want to find out more is www.omnirim.com
This system encompasses everything you would need from a records management
package - including storage information, tracking information, retention
schedules etc. It is a very flexible system that has been implemented at a
variety of different business sectors and is heavily customisable as a
result.
Thanks

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. For those who are interested
a summary of responses is below.
Several CALM users got in touch to say that they found it helpful, only one
person had reservations about it.
Others have used Access (one is looking to use Oracle) to customise their
own database with more or less success.
Other software packages in use for this type of thing are:
Dataease;
DB Textworks, from a company called Soutron;
A product from Arcline Records Management Services, Dublin (www.arcline.ie);
MasterTrak;
RecFind, distributed by UK Team Logic;
archiveVISION.
Costings were more difficult to come by but ranged from approx. #2,000 to
#50,000.
Many thanks to all.
Anne

Hello Anne,
I wondered if you have had a response to your request and whether you could
advise me of any packages 'out there'?

Subject: Off the shelf packages for records management
Dear all,
I wonder if anyone would be willing to share their experiences of any "off
the shelf" packages for records management and how much they cost (including
maintenance)?
I am NOT interested in EDRM systems. I am looking for a database to hold
information about primarily manual files, e.g. file metadata, storage
information, tracking information, retention information, etc.
I am aware of CALM for records management but would be pleased to hear about
any experiences of it (or any other similar software), and get an idea of
how much it costs to cover the records of a department with approx 30-40
members of staff.
Many thanks,
Anne Thompson
