British Philosophy of Sport Association Study Group
At the British Philosophy of Sport Association AGM in June 2004 it was decided that the association would found a series of study group meetings to provide greater opportunity for the exchange of ideas in the philosophy of sport. The BPSA Study Group Meetings are designed to allow the presentation of a series of themed papers in one-day seminars with none of the usual expense associated with such events. Each meeting will begin at 10.00 and finish at 16.30. The number of papers at each meeting is strictly limited to seven, all presented to plenary sessions. Papers will be thirty minutes in length with fifteen minutes of discussion following each paper.
Proposed topics for future sessions will be posted to the BPSA web site together with a call for papers. All abstracts, topic proposals and offers to host study group meetings should be sent by e-mail to Dr. Leon Culbertson, BPSA Study Group Convenor ([log in to unmask]). Meetings of the study group will be held twice each year and will be in addition to the BPSA annual conference held in May.
Study group meetings are free to members of the BPSA. A non-refundable charge of £25 (£15 student rate) is payable by all non-members attending each meeting. For information on how to become a member of the BPSA (£20 annual membership/£10 student and other concessions) see the section entitled 'membership' on the homepage of the BPSA website (www.philosophyofsport.org.uk). Alternatively, contact the BPSA Treasurer and Membership Secretary, Dr Heather Sheridan, at [log in to unmask] Membership fees can be paid by standing order.
Please note that in order to keep the costs to a minimum lunch and refreshments will not be provided. There will be an opportunity to buy your own lunch and refreshments on-site throughout the day.
