This is a long shot, but to do with an illustration I am trying to source.
It is an engraving of Thomas Pounde, former courtier to Queen Elizabeth. As
a Jesuit he was put in prison in Bishop's Stortford, Herts circa 1580 and
afterwards
in other prisons. The engraving shows him being put in irons at Bishop's
Stortford Castle. There is a faint signature which looks like J. G. Heinsoh
del. The reproduction in the book I am looking at is not good enough to be
used, and I would like to track down the origins of the engraving and find
out if there is an original that can be copied. Grateful for any
suggestions! I have done an internet search on Thomas Pounde and not found
anything.
many thanks
