October 13 is the deadline for submission of abstracts for IS&T's Archiving
Conference 2005. After last year's enthusiastic response to the first
conference, we are holding the second conference on April 26 - 29 in
Washington, D.C. We invite you to submit your work to this important new
conference, devoted to building a unique, international community in the
domain of archiving and preservation. Join us and our cooperating societies
in a program that includes tutorials, invited presentations and referred
papers. One of the featured keynote speakers at Archiving 2005 will be
Clifford Lynch, Executive Director of CNI.
This conference will cover techniques for preserving, cataloging, indexing
and retrieving images and documents in both digital and analog form. The
conference goal is to benchmark systems to preserve our digital and
hardcopy information for the future, as well as to identify those areas
where systems and technology are not yet up to the task, and further
research of high priority is needed. Of particular interest are digital and
hardcopy preservation strategies, issues of format obsolescence, and
storage media technology. See the full list of Proposed Topics below.
Please note we've reduced the required size of the extended abstract for
submission to 750 words.
IS&T's gained wide reaching support from both the imaging and archiving
communities which confirms our view of the timeliness and relevance of this
meeting. Cooperating organizations include:
AIC (American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works)
ALCTS (Association for Library Collections & Technical Services)
CNI (Coalition for Networked Information)
DLF (Digital Library Federation)
ECPA (European Commission on Preservation and Access)
ISCC (Inter-Society Color Council)
MCN (Museum Computer Network)
OCLC (Online Computer Library Center)
RLG (Research Library Group)
SPIE (The International Society for Optical Engineering)
Join the program of invited presentations by recognized experts with
extensive experience in this field, along with the refereed papers program
and a series of tutorials.
Submit your 750 to 1000 word abstract via the IS&T website today!
