Hi,
Has anyone out there ever come across reports of burials at C19 sewage works?
There are proposals to develop the area around a C19 sewage works in Leicester (the works
themselves are unaffected). So we've started to hear rumours that there may be burials in the
vicinity of this sewage works. The tales is that still-born babies and miscarriages were disposed of down the storm
drains and the staff of the sewage works came across them. According to these
reports, staff were trained to be able to date the gestation of these. It is said that the 'more mature
remains' were reported to the authorities and disposed of elsewhere, but the 'less mature foetuses'
would have been buried on site.
I am inclined to be sceptical, but then I'm the original 'doubting Thomas'. So it occurs to me that
still-births and miscarriages are hardly unique to Leicester. So has anyone come across similar accounts?
Maybe it would be best if replies were sent off-list. There may be squeamish people out there!
