You may be interested to hear that the Learning Support Unit of
University College, Dublin, will hold a one day Conference on
"Enhancing Learning Skills at University" in the O'Reilly Hall on the
11th of November 2004.

Keynote speakers include Prof. Diane Halpern (President of the
American Psychological Association) on "Teaching for Critical
Thinking", Prof. Patricia Senn Breivik (Chair of the National Forum
on Information Literacy, US) on "Information Skills, a 21st Century
Skill" and Prof. Noel Entwistle (University of Edinburgh) on "
Approaches to Learning and Levels of Understanding: Influences and
Responsibilities". In addition, Prof. Aidan Moran et al. (Dept of
Psychology, UCD) will present a paper on "Evaluating a Learning
Skills Intervention for First Year Students in UCD".
