I appreciate Bob's draft and like Paul's suggested additions however I feel
uncomfortable with the idea of this message being sent on behalf of all at
the conference as I doubt anybody currently has the authority to speak on
behalf of the all those assembled (this was one of my points in the final
session and one reason why why we need a more formal cp structure with
efficient and accountable decision processes). I imagine we are mostly in
agreement with the letter on this issue but I would not want a precedent
where a group at a future conference sent a letter on behalf of the whole UK
CPN which I had not had a chance to consider and express a view on (if I
could not attend etc.) Moreover who went to the conference some were not
there when the matter was discussed, there was no formal move to adopt a
resolution of equivalent and it may have been quite hard to speak out
against it given the consensus groundswell? It might even also be that the
letter would have more authority if it listed individual signatories with
their various affiliations than if sent by an anonymous group of which few
have heard? Personally, I would like to reflect on the draft a bit more (I
am tied up in perpetual meetings til Thursday) but I anticipate sending a
version of the letter myself and also being able to put my name to a multi
signature letter by the end of the week if one were being sent.

Hi Bob,
I echo all of the previous messages. If you are signing names feel free to
add mine to the collective letter. However I wonder if the suggestion of
sending it as the collective motion from the conference is more powerful
becuase with the little time peope have to reply to you you may not be able
to put may specific names on the letter, but you were given the authority at
the conference to act on behalf of those there.
I will also send my own copies as you suggest.
