MOODLE: a free, open source virtual learning environment

Cost: £85 members, £150 non-members
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to Moodle, an
open source virtual learning environment developed by Martin
Dougiamas in Australia. Moodle is one of the fastest growing learning
environments used today, and is used in over 1,000 sites across the
world, by individual educators, schools, educational communities, and
in the FE and HE sectors.
Topics to be covered:
*introduction to Moodle.
*the Moodle community.
*case studies of Moodle in use.
*‘Moodling’ from a student and lecturer perspective.
*Participants will have the prospect of creating their own course and
may wish to bring their own content with them on a cd rom.
Expected outcomes:
Participants will explore Moodle and in particular will
*become familiar with the Moodle community.
*explore Moodle from a student perspective.
*explore Moodle from a staff perspective and create their own Moodle
course.
Who should attend
Staff who are using, supporting or looking to use technology in a
learning and teaching environment would benefit, alongside Learning
technologists who support learning and teaching in a virtual learning
environment. Academics who are championing the introduction of
learning technologies in their institution would appreciate the
workshop, with Academics, planning managers, and support staff who
want to learn to ‘Moodle’.
