Unfortunately, you're not wrong. You might want to look at the work Will
is doing for the NVO, as always he seems furthest along (mainly because
like me he's ignoring what the IVOA are doing and trying to bend them to
his will with a fait acompli). As far as I know, no one has a "working"
registry where you can actually do proper resource discovery. I've been
twisting people's arms for about a year because it's something I
desparetly need for eSTAR reall soon now.
Personally I've gone off the entire idea, it was always too centralised
for my liking. For eSTAR I think I'm going to go with a peer to peer
aragement for resource knoweldge propogration, and some sort of rendezvous
type thing for local discovery.
