actually it's not the version of m4 that's the problem, it's that you
don't have libtool support as well. When this is true there should be a
libtool.m4 file in /usr/local/share/aclocal directory, which is what m4
cannot find. Try installing the sunfreeware version of libtool.
Naturally I don't have any of these tools on the Solaris box I used.
Maybe Norman understands how these all interrelate, but perhaps we should
just build all the local fsf tools and forget using anything else.
