Following John Walsh's suggestion.
I believe I tried to disable one of the NIC's on a similar machine
about three weeks ago. I did it by moving a jumper on the board, and it
did not work, although I made little effort to pursue this.
This morning I plugged both channels into the same subnet and using the
template CE configuration with the addition of
+hardware.mod_eth0 alias eth0 e1000
+hardware.mod_eth1 alias eth1 e1000
it went through the whole installation procedure and came up
having sucessfully connected to an off site time server and mounted the
LCFGng directory - so I guess that this is most (if not all) of the way
there.
