Hi Fraser,
# rpm -q --whatprovides libgcc_s.so.1
gcc3-3.2.2-edg1
which is a gcc to go in /opt/gcc-3.2.2 so should do no damage to your
existing vanilla install hopefully.
You will hough have to add /opt/gcc-3.2.2/lib (check the exact path) to your
/etc/ld.so.conf as well though.
