The problem I find with MoReq, PRO now TNA2002 and US DOD 5015.2 are all ERM
standards which to a greater or lesser extent discuss EDM. Personally, I
find DOD almost unreadable as it is full of USA military acronyms, MoReq is
most readable but there is no test against which vendors can claim
compatibility and TNA2002 is so proscriptive that few vendors have submitted
for testing even though they may have excellent EDM products with good ERM
functionality.
But the main problem, to me, is that your bread and butter day to day work
is about EDM and subsequent retrievals etc are covered by the ERM
functionality. All these standards are all little bit like the tail wagging
the dog. I would determine what functionality you required in you EDM system
(workflow maybe?) and ensure by reference to MoReq that you had appropriate
ERM functionality.
Of course, if you are just looking for an ERM product for which EDM is an
incidental then read MoReq for an understanding of the issues and then look
at TNA2002 with the EDM extension.

Does any one have a Spec for an Electronic Document Records Management
System (EDRMS) that they are willing to share with me. We have been asked
to create one for this authority at very short notice and I do not know
where to start.
Thanks very much and I look forward to any replies.
