This full-day pre-conference workshop brings together a nationally-recognized faculty of investigators, journal editors, and funding agency representatives to focus on elevating the quality of research proposals, enhancing the standards of research methodology, and improving the caliber of resulting publications. A central focus concerns how these methods help illuminate the meaning of the experiences and needs of special populations, including ethnic and racial minorities and vulnerable elders.
Targeted to researchers and advanced students involved in qualitative and mixed methods research.
A limited number of scholarships are available. To apply for a scholarship, applicants should provide a letter describing their research and how their attendance at this workshop will benefit their work, along with a letter of support from a faculty member. In their letter, they should indicate whether they are involved in health disparities research and/or are from an under-represented racial/ethnic group.
Deadline for receipt of applications: September 15, 2004.
