The University of Melbourne School of
Physiotherapy offers a senior academic researcher
with an excellent track record of research
funding, publications and postgraduate student
supervision the opportunity to provide leadership
in physiotherapy research. The School is
building on its research strengths in
neuroscience, applied anatomy and biomechanics
and physiotherapeutic neuromusculoskeletal
rehabilitation.
Research is central to the agenda of the
University of Melbourne and the School of
Physiotherapy. The principal learning pedagogy
of the School in both undergraduate and
postgraduate programs is based on research
through the paradigm of problem based learning.
Clinical education incorporating evidence based
practice is undertaken in the Clinical Schools of
the University and is fully integrated with
academic learning.
The Schoolıs highly respected research has two
main themes in neuroscience and physiotherapeutic
neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation. Research
addressing cardiorespiratory physiotherapy,
womenıs and childrenıs health and education is
also featured. The School houses the
multidisciplinary Centre for Health, Exercise and
Sports Medicine under the directorship of
Associate Professor Kim Bennell and has a new
Rehabilitation Sciences Research Centre at Austin
Health directed by Professor Mary Galea
(Professor of Clinical Physiotherapy).
