Sorry, I am late into this thread ...
Such a workshop would be good.
Without wanting to dilute the main focus, I think that, if there are
likely to be many PhD students attending, it might not be bad idea to
start such a workshop off with a tutorial on basic experimental method,
of course, based around a couple of simple PlanetLab examples.
Also, I think Mark may already have said but UCL would be happy to host
this, especially if it makes things easier for travel arrangements.
