Hallo, I am visiting the Italian Studies list. A short c.v. is available
via the link "speakers" at the conference web site mentioned below.
REQUEST/INVITATION
We need help to find Italian citizens as speakers
and workshop contributors for our forthcoming conference. An
announcement with hyperlinks is at http://www.iniref.org/conf.html
We want in depth reports about experience with elements of direct
democracy from those countries where it already works. The conference is
meant to initiate a public debate about the future of democracy in
Britain and to enable exchange among European countries. We will ask the
speaker to give a 15 minute talk in plenum and then to take part in an
afternoon workshop.
Italian citizens are invited, who can speak about the history of direct
democracy in Italy and relate recent experience with use of the
abrogative referendum, e.g. the "di Pietro" initiative.
These might be students who have worked in a
referendum campaign, citizens experienced in these matters or academics
who have studied Italy's direct democracy. Obviously it would be easier
for people based in Britain to attend our meeting but if necessary we
will ask contributors to travel from Italy.
