Yes, those are sample commands for indexing and searching.  I have
tested it on the sample records but would be grateful for help with
more rigorous testing.

For now you would have to get the source via anonymous CVS, because
the latest version has not quite stabilized into a release yet.  Most
of the recent changes involve work on a C interface and for the TREC
conference.  Here are instructions for checking out the very latest
(possibly unstable) version from CVS:

cvs -d:pserver:[log in to unmask]:/cvsroot/amberfish login
(press Enter - no password)
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:[log in to unmask]:/cvsroot/amberfish co amberfish

Yes, this is possible.  However, testing it directly, in Linux for
example, is not difficult.
