UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD: FELLOWSHIP IN MODERN CHINESE STUDIES (Faculty of
Oriental Studies)
Career Development Fellowship in Modern Chinese Studies
Salary: £18,893 - £28,279 p.a.
A fixed-term research and teaching appointment in Modern Chinese Studies is
available from 1st January 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter, for
three years. This initiative is designed to provide an intensive and
supported career development opportunity for an outstanding academic at an
early stage in their career, and to promote equality of opportunity by
helping to create a more diverse pool of potential candidates for future
academic posts at Oxford or elsewhere.
The University especially welcomes applications from women and ethnic
minorities, who are under-represented among its academic staff (Section 38
of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and Section 48 of the Race Relations Act
1976 apply).
The Fellowship, tenable in the Faculty of Oriental Studies, can be in any
of the principal historical and social sciences relating to China. The post
will be offered in association with Merton College. Career Development
Fellows will be able to develop their expertise in both research and
teaching. They will also have an academic mentor, as well as a personalised
career and professional development package, including the opportunity to
undertake the University's postgraduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching.
