Summary: Coco Java interface doesn't convert from FK5
Product: COCO-J
Version: unspecified
Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: MacOS X
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: COCO-J
AssignedTo: [log in to unmask]
ReportedBy: [log in to unmask]
QAContact: [log in to unmask]
I downloaded the STARJAVA package and used the coco.jar applet
(/STARJAVA/lib/coco/coco.jar). It correctly converted an FK4 (B1950) coordinate
to an FK5 (J2000) coordinate, but made a mistake in converting the same FK5
coordinate back to FK4. Rather than giving back the original FK4 position, it
gave a position very close to the FK5 position.
I tried with both the stable version and the 200904 development version.
** Example of correct FK4 to FK5 operation **
INPUT System Equinox Epoch
Equatorial, FK4 B1950
RA Dec PM PX RV * Hour
07 39 32.51 +36 41 51.9
OUTPUT System Equinox Epoch
Equatorial, FK5 J2000
* Medium
RESULT RA Dec
Coordinate 7 42 51.169 +36 34 43.66 J2000.0 J2000.0 FK5
