[EMS-NEWS]
Dear All,
just a brief note regarding new equipment/installtion in certain EMS
rooms over the following 7- 10 days...
---
Control Room:
This studio will be out of action for 2-3 days as we have a new Apple
G5 1.8GHz computer arriving today to be installed & tested with
ProTools HD2 Accel hardware. This will undoubtedly take a few days to
'bed-in' (as they say), but I aim to have this up and running by
Tuesday next week.
Studio One:
The monitor card in this studio has failed and I am awaiting a
replacement, so this studio is out of action for at least a week.
Live Electronics Studio (Room 151)
We are awaiting a new Apple G5 computer for this studio; this will be
another 3-4 weeks, due to the high global demand for Apple G5s.
However, this studio is still bookable with its current G4 800
computer.
Mac OSX note:
All the studios in the EMS now run in Mac OSX Panther, except for the
8-channel Studio. We are waiting for IRCAM to finalise the porting of
SPAT Diffusion software to OSX, so until that time the 8-channel
Studio will remain running (happily) in Mac OS9.
