I personally rate Atlas Ti which has a simple and easy to use format and
allows intimate handling of the data. I think a great deal of qualitative
software is much of a muchness - what is important is knowing how you are
going to use the software and utilise it in your analysis of the data.
Also the latest version of Atlas Ti does allow for coding of sound files and
video. And Rick - not sure what you meant by - electronically transcribe -
you still have to do the donkey work yourself which means transcribing
either the whole thing or the sections that you identify after coding
(although would always opt for the full transcription myself). Hope that
helps!
Good luck!
Anne

Jodi and Rick, for such small numbers of interviews, I'd use NVivo not
NUD*IST - NVivo has finer coding and rich text and modeling, none of
which are in NUD*IST, whose plain text and fixed units are there to let
you handle larger quantities of data. (By the way I don't know why
Harald thinks there will be an N7 in a few months, but there won't!
There will be an NVivo 3 but it does not yet have an arrival date.)
To see what these programs do, and the difference, go to
http://www.qsrinternational.com .
Transcriber programs just make text, so it can go in any qualitative
software. (But first you have to deal with all of the errors in the
text!)

Sorry Lyn, I incremented the release number of the wrong product.
