PICNIC FOR PEACE
There is a Worldwide Picnic for Peace on Sunday 8th August. It is being
promoted through word of mouth and the internet.
There are picnics organised in Southend-on-Sea, Wimbledon, Llandrhaedr
(Wales), and Leeds so far. Across the world there will be picnics in Greece,
USA, Sweden, Australia, India and Canada. The idea came from one woman here
in Britain so it's great that the picnic has been so popular.
IN LONDON
In London, STW has organised a Picnic on Sunday 8th August, Regent's Park.
It will be held from 12pm till 4pm in Cumberland Green, near the Cumberland
Gate, between the Outer Circle and the Broadwalk. Nearest tube: Mornington
Crescent. Bring your own picnic.
It is a child-friendly event, so bring your family, friends, neighbours.
There will be stilt walkers, fire jugglers and face painters. We'll have
games (including Five aside Football), a stall with STW merchandise, and the
opportunity to throw wet sponges at Bush and Blair!
Bring along a £3 wrapped gift for the Tombola and your Rainbow Peace flags.
Also if you wish, bring along your banners.
Spread the word. This A4 poster for the London event can be reduced to A5
for flyers.
If anyone has access to a Tombola please contact Francesca on 020 7278 6694.
Let's hope the sun shines that day.
OUTSIDE LONDON? ORGANISE YOUR OWN
We welcome people from outside London to join our picnic but is also
encouraging groups accross the country to hold their own Picnics for Peace
on the same day. It is an opportunity to get members together, encourage
friends to join the peace movement and to socialise. Let the national office
know about your local picnics sInternational peace site
