Just for info
Curriculum Online addressed the lack of proper cost/support detail in the
lom by defining an extension element within the rights group called
costprice, which is mandatory when cost is set to 'yes'.
It consists of the following information
License model
Other model (for the cases where the predefined license vocabulary wasn't
adequate)
Amount
Currency
Tax included
Tech support cost
Teacher support available
They were conscious that pricing information was very important to users of
their repository looking for resources and that the info which can be
entered in the standard lom definition was too restricted for their needs.

Subject: UK LOM Core: Rights Information (summary)
*UK LOM Core, Rights Information (summary)*
The following is a summary of discussion on the CETIS-Metadata list, and
will hopefully serve as the agreed starting point for further discussion at
the UK LOM Core meeting in Glasgow. The archives of the original discussion
can be found at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/cetis-metadata.html (the
discussion took place in July).
*Position in UK LOM Core draft 2*
6.1 Rights.cost (yes/no) is optional(recommended)
6.2 Rights.copyright and other restrictions (yes/no) is mandatory
6.3 Rights.description is mandatory, but if either 6.1 or 6.2 is "yes" then
further information should be provided.
*Issue Description*
Does it make sense to these elements as madatory / recommended.

*Routes to Resolution?*
Are these LOM attribute "remarkably useless" as Andy suggets in his FAQ, or
are they incomplete but of some use?
Review whether they should be mandatory, or only mandatory under certain
conditions.
Other suggestions?
Phil.
