My client is a leading digital media consultancy and they are currently
looking to recruit a Lead Information Architect. You will lead the user
research and information architecture activities for our institutional
financial services clients. The role requires the development of
information architecture for web based business applications (for example
intranets, sales tools, trading systems).
You will be responsible for capturing and translating the business, user
and technical requirements into the standard IA documentation (site maps
and wireframe specifications). You will also engage in and manage all
aspects of user research and usability testing (e.g. running focus groups,
conducting user interviews and observations, developing prototypes,
moderating usability tests, analysing the results, creating and presenting
reports). Strong client communication skills are essential.
You will interact and communicate with a wide range of team members; IAs,
visual designers, developers, business analysts and project managers. You
will manage the information architects on your projects and take
responsibility for efficient and effective completion of all IA
deliverables.
In addition, you will work with client directors to take an active role in
business development.
Experience & Skills
We are looking for someone with the following characteristics:
· You need to have demonstrated consulting experience, and be able
to:
o Work closely and professionally with clients.
o Bring your work to life through clear presentations and
articulate explanations.
o Work well in teams (with colleagues from technical, design and
business areas).
o Plan and manage your own work stream and those of others.
o Carry and articulate the vision for project design stream to the
client and within the project team.
o Adjust and optimize your working methodology as appropriate to
the situation.
· You should have experience of user-centred design and human-
computer interaction methodologies, in particular:
o Experience in a range of user research methodologies.
o Development of user scenarios and development of designs centred
on these scenarios.
o Experience in iterative design methodology (development of
usability test scripts, moderation of usability tests and result analysis,
modification of designs based on testing, retesting as necessary).
o Knowledge of best practice in user-centred design.
o Experience in developing detailed site maps and wireframe
specifications for complex informational and interactive sites.
· You should have the core skills that we identify in good
information architects:
o Structured and logical thought process.
o Rigour and attention to detail.
o A considered, careful and process-oriented approach to problem-
solving.
o Ability to grasp problems and situations quickly and to distil
complex situations into their core elements (essentially to see the wood
for the trees).
Qualifications
A good degree (2:1 or above).
