NCIL is holding our first AGM on 10 September, at
London's City Hall. We are marking the occasion with a conference
'A right to independent living'
NCIL is campaigning to establish a right to independent Living so that all
disabled people can expect support to do what everyone else does. Disabled
people want to live with their own family and friends, go out, get jobs,
make plans- on a basis of equality. But at present there are barriers
preventing us from doing some of those things.
This conference event brings together disabled people and our allies our
campaign.
Keynote speakers will include Stephen Ladyman, Minister for Health and
Trevor Phillips, Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality.
An expert panel led by Michael Naughton of Dublin Centre for Independent
will address ways of achieving independent living, including the role of the
proposed Commission on Equalities and Human Rights.
There will also be themed workshops.
The conference will be followed by our AGM
For more details about attending please contact
our new Events Administrator Heather Ursell ([log in to unmask] ) at the
