All,
Having looked at this right-wing website the counter arguments are very poor
and even if some of them have an element of truth, the war in iraq is based
on very weak evidence to a threat to the states, to Britain or anywhere else
to justify invading another country. North Korea is more of a threat.
Whatever the reasons, Bush has a poor record on the environment vis a vis
the conerns of big business and that is enough to make me think Michael is
not far off the mark. Meanwhile, a lot of dead and disabled soldiers come
back from another battlefield, with the world still no safer than before 911
and ideologies more entrenched in their own rightousness. Whether Mr Moore
is completely right is not really the point. All the evidence suggests that
this war is not helpful; cultural misunderstandings abound and are worsened
between the west and the east, and terrorism is being further fueled by all
this. As some of the veterans of the first world war said the other day to
commerate their terrible experiences in France, 'we never learn'.
