We are looking at a risk assessment with regards to phenol
I have referenced the DEFRA TOX9 for phenol which indicates a Tdi oral but
no Tdi inhal
The final paragraph suggests that there is insufficient data for the
derivation of a Tdi for the inhhal route for phenol and it may be
appropriate to derive an index dose for the inhalation pathway. However
there appears to be insufficient data for the derivation of such an index
doe. DEFRA conclude with "until then, the Tdi oral should be used in
deriving SGV's for phenol"
Does this mean that the inhal route should be ignored?
Or should we continue to look at TDI inhal and derive our own from sources
such as RBCA (phenol is currently a non carcinogen) or the air quality
standard as a NOAEL with factors of uncertainty of 100???
Some advice from anyone who has the answer to this dilemma posed by DEFRA
TOX 9 would be welcome
