Collaborative PhD studentship on regional development

Maintenance grant of £10,500 in 2004/05, rising to approximately £12,500
in 2006/07 tax free, together with payment of fees.
Applications are invited for a three-year collaborative research
studentship in the School of Applied Social Sciences, sponsored by the
North East Assembly (www.northeastassembly.gov.uk). This is an opportunity
to complete a PhD while gaining first hand experience of policy
development. The likely focus of the PhD is the contribution of regional
development policies to tackling exclusion and worklessness.
Candidates should possess a good honours degree in a social science and
preferably an ESRC recognised Masters award. The studentship is only open
to UK or EU students.
The expected start date is 1 October 2004.
