Hello List.
Hymns and Sequences are a favorite subject of mine. Most hymnals have an
index for the Meter of the hymns. The Meter here is 887, a very common
meter for Latin hymnody, including many Sequences. The Sequence for the
Feast of Corpus Christi is mostly in 887, but near the end changes to
8887, and the final two verses ("Ecce panis") is 88887. OTOH many of the
Office hymns are 8787. In centuries past many of these hymns were
translated into English keeping the same Meter as the original. Hence the
large repertoire of 8787 or 8787D (doubled) hymn-tunes. I suggest looking
in your church's hymnal, or any other hymnals you might own, in the
Metrical Index. BTW CM "Common Meter" is 8686, SM "Short Meter" is 6686,
and LM "Long Meter" is 88. Any Meter can be doubled in length for the
sake of the tune melody and is indecated by D either before or after the
Meter. Enjoy
