Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
For reasons I cannot begin to fathom, Bill has omitted all mention of
the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a preserved/restored steam rail line
operating in splendid country between Pickering and Grosmont.
Insufficiently medieval, I suppose.
Exactly so. It does not relate in any way to medieval religion and
culture, and I feared the righteous wrath of George. But since you
raise the matter, the said railway terminates about a hundred yards
from my front door, and I often hear that lonesome whistle blowing.
Phoo-ee!
How _does_ one who is without automobile get to Pickering from Leeds?
Are there local trains from York?
There is a direct bus from Leeds to Pickering (Leeds - York - Pickering
- Scarborough). The rail link from Pickering to York was dismantled in
the 1960's. There is talk of rebuilding it, but this is unlikely to
happen in time for the Leeds conference?
Bill.
