Hi Sabrina
I too am based in Melbourne, and have written on masculinity, sport and
culture. I would be happy to chat further with you about the research
projects you are working on - sounds very topical in light of the events in
Australian football this year.
I am away all next week at a conference, but am very keen to touch base and
talk further about your work. If you could tell me a little more about the
projects you are doing, and more importantly how you are doing them, that
would be great. Look forward to hearing from you and best wishes. Ian Warren

Hi everyone,
My names Sabrina and I'm working as the Research Officer at the Cochrane
Health Promotion and Public Health Field in Melbourne, Australia.
We are currently doing two Cochrane reviews on "Policy interventions
implemented through sporting organisations for promoting healthy
behaviour change" and on
"Interventions implemented through sporting organisations for increasing
participation in sport".
I would appreciate any information that you may have regarding studies
in either of these areas; and in particular unpublished studies or
studies currently being undertaken.
If you think there is anyone else I should contact, I would appreciate
their names (and contact details if you have them).

Hi everyone,
My thanks also to Emma for setting this forum up. It will prove I feel a
good resource and e-roundtable type forum and also networking resource.
My name is Melina Timson-Katchis and currently studying for my Phd at
Loughborough University. My main research interests focus on
interpersonal relationship in sport and more specifically the
coach-parent-athlete triangle. My research is based in Cyprus, (where i
am originally from and hope to return to) where traditionally parental
involvement in sport is mostly by fathers with mothers being overlooked
and where women coaches could probably be counted on one hand.
Main objectives are to eventually set up support programs for parents
and educational workshops for parents and coaches alike aiming to get
both mothers and fathers involved.
I would be interested in any ideas on programs such as these, if anyone
has piloted any. If anyone might be up for some cross-cultural research
please get in touch.
Melina
