Dear Colleagues:
I enclose information regarding our graduate programme in Literary Theory &
Comparative Literature at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
The Doctoral Programme of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature of the
University of Santiago de Compostela has been honoured with the "High Quality
Distinction" (MCD2003-00827) of the National Agency for the Evaluation of
Quality and Accreditation (ANECA) and the Ministry of Education and Science
since the academic year 2003-2004 and it has been renewed for the academic year
2004-2005. Of all the programmes organized by the Spanish Universities, this is
the only one of its kind that has achieved this Distinction.
This Distinction will mean an increase in external resources and a reinforcement
of training policy with a direct influence on future graduate grants and on
incentives for students mobility (travelling expenses and sojourn). Students
coming from other Universities will particularly benefit from these grants.
This Graduate Programme has three main objectives: 1) to provide students with
an updated and practical perspective of current theoretical and methodological
systems in Literary Studies, as well as of the most significant precedents
since Classical Poetics and Rhetorics; 2) to deepen their knowledge of the
literature or literatures at the undergraduate levels from a comparative
perspective with a transnational and plurilingualistic nature; and 3) to
provide the necessary means to carry out doctoral theses of a theoretical
and/or comparative kind.
Twenty-five places are offered, five of them exclusively for students from
foreign Universities. The application for admission must be submitted from 1st
to 17th September.
