PhD Studentship in Augmented Reality and Wireless Sensor Networks
School of Computing, Napier University.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A fully funded three-year PhD studentship is available to investigate
the integration of augmented reality (AR) systems with ubiquitous
computing infrastructure. The successful applicant will study how we
might use dense networks of small wireless sensor systems to (i)
spontaneously discover and interact with human observers and (ii)
generate enhanced reality visual displays which augment the human
observer’s view of the world, using data acquired and/or otherwise
generated by the sensor network.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a First Class or Upper
Second Class Honours, or Masters, degree in Cybernetics, Human Computer
Systems, general Computer Science, or a related subject. Experience in
the design and development of 3D graphics, computer vision, or wireless
networked applications will be seen as an advantage.
The studentship provides a standard living allowance (of £9,000 pa in
2003-04) and also covers full fees up to a level appropriate to UK/EU
applicants, for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress. The
studentship is expected to start on 1st October 2004.
