medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
For what it's worth, I notice that the modern Missale Romanum calls all the
material (Introit, Kyrie, Oratio (which originally was a summation of the
first HS reading as I recall) up to the first reading (aka Epistle)
"Introductory Rites". So it may be that technically, the Mass proper has
three parts: Introduction, Scripture readings and Eucharist. My guess would
be that the "beginning" is with the Introductory Rites", although the core
of the mass would surely be the Scripture readings and Eucharist).
