1 Position Summary
The Appointee will be required to contribute fully to the activities of the
Italian program within the Department of French, Italian and Spanish Studies
as well as to those of the Department in general. He/she will be expected to
work as directed by the Head of the Italian Section and the Head of the
Department.
2 Selection Criteria
Essential
a PhD in some area relevant to Italian Studies;
native or near-native competence in Italian;
competence in English;
experience in researching in an area of Italian studies as demonstrated
through refereed publications;
teaching experience, including ability to teach Italian language at any
level;
ability to teach and supervise at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
Desirable
demonstrated teaching interest in one or more of the following areas of
contemporary Italian studies: contemporary Italian societies, Italian
cultural studies;
demonstrated research interest in contemporary Italian societies, Italian
cultural studies;
an interest in interdisciplinary research and/or teaching;
3. Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant would be expected to:
· participate in developing curricula in Italian Studies
· develop and teach Italian Studies subjects
· take responsibility for student assessment
· supervise Honours and Postgraduate students
· pursue research in an area relevant to Italian Studies
· participate in a range of administrative matters
· undertake such other duties within the School and the Department may be
assigned from time to time.
