SOCIOCULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY POSITION: POMONA COLLEGE
The Pomona College Department of Anthropology invites applications for a
tenure-track position in sociocultural anthropology at the Assistant
Professor level. Pomona College places strong emphasis on excellence in
teaching undergraduates in small classes. At the same time, scholarly
productivity is required of faculty members. Topical and geographic areas of
specialization are open. However, the successful candidate will be
responsible for teaching the introductory course in social/cultural
anthropology as well as one or two other courses from a set of courses
required or recommended for majors (i.e., anthropological theory, research
methods, medical anthropology, or applied anthropology). The teaching load
at Pomona College is two courses per semester.
Applicants should send a current curriculum vitae; a graduate transcript;
a teaching portfolio (to include sample syllabi for introductory
social/cultural anthropology and a course on theory or methods or applied);
names and contact information of three references; two or three writing
samples (manuscripts or publications); and a cover letter describing
teaching philosophy, professional contributions and accomplishments, as well
as current and anticipated research activities. Complete applications
received by October 31, 2004 will receive full consideration. Interviews
will be held at the 2004 AAA meeting in San Francisco. Review of
