Taken from the New Zealand guideleines on assessing and managing petrolium
hydrocarbon sites (1999) M2-P21:-
Typical residual hydrocarbon concentrations in the unsaturated zone (Middle
Distillates);
Coarse Gravel = 2,200 mg/kg
Coarse Sand = 6,500 mg/kg
Fine Sand/Silt = 17,500 mg/kg
No values are given for clay.
