That probably calls for another release then.
Having said that, we just tried installing release 11 on a new Linux box
running Mandrake 9 and ran into all sorts of problems:
(1) The Tcl/Tk 8.3.4 provided on the CCPN website compiled fine and
ordinary Tkinter (so Tcl/Tk) widgets were created fine inside Analysis,
but when a new window was created it crashed and we traced the problem to
a call to Tk_MakeWindowExist() in the C world, before any GL calls so a
separate issue from the crashes we were having with OSX. We switched to
Tcl/Tk8.4 (not sure which variant) which happened to be on the machine and
that worked fine. Now it's possible (likely) that the Python we were
using (which was already installed on the machine) had been compiled
against Tcl/Tk 8.4 and so some minor confusion between the versions caused
the problem. I just do not know. So for now we're using Tcl/Tk 8.4 on
that machine.
(2) Having solved that problem we ended up with the famous blank canvas
problem. Now I think for GL we were using a version of Mesa 5.0 that was
already installed on the machine. (Although it's possible another GL was
being picked up, I never really know.) We downloaded the Mesa 6.0 from
the CCPN website and compiled that and then Analysis ran fine. I'm going
to have another look at Mesa 5.0 tomorrow and in particular try out the
glFlush() additions. If we can solve the problem here it might help Brian
and the others who've had this problem (or it might not, since there seem
to be an infinite number of problems one can run into on these Linux
boxes.)
