Well I for one find it very difficult to seperate my role as an assessor from
that of a trainer. Both roles require me to well up to date with the
technology and as a trainer I am well aware of the difficulties that arise
with the end user from the recommendation of AT.
I guess that what I wanted was to get us all talking and exchanging
ideas and thoughts. I for one would be very pleased to see discussions
on new technology as I to spend many hours trying to get something to
do a trick I know should occur, only to find months later that somebody
else has developed a much quicker way.
I am not sure that Dis-forum is the right forum for assessors or trainers
to discuss issues that may be clouded by the nature of the dis-forum
user.
However I am well aware that assessors need to be more than just
technologists. The old days of assessing for technology alone have well
gone and so we also need to discuss issues around curricula and non
medical support. But having said this I also think that listening in and
even having a say is good for the trainer too.
If I am proven wrong by users of this forum to think that the issues of
assessors and trainers are linked then I will allow this forum to continue
as it was and will seek to set up another forum just for assessors
although trainers would always be welcome. It just seems a waste of
time to have yet another forum when we have a good one here with a
established membership.
