At North Bristol our middle grades and consultants are allowed to
interpret trauma head and sudden headache scans. To get this we have an
organised teaching session every couple of months or so with one of the
neuroradiologists. All CT heads are reported within 48 hours, and if we
are not sure of a scan and need immediate interpretation we call the
neuroradiologist on call. Most of them have home access to the scans.
All other scans (fitters etc if required out of hours) go through the on
call team.

Subject: Radiologist required?
I know the answer is out there somewhere - but I can't find it when I
want
it
Does anyone have or know of any guidelines to allow ED middle grades to
interpret CT head scans for "gross" abnormalaties ie ones that require a
neurosurgeon. We'd really like to allow our radiologists some sleep (no
really)
