the gfortran home page, that seems to be what we'll get along with GCC
when 3.5(?) rolls out (I cannot work out the relationship between these
two projects, other than gfortran is a fork of g95 from about 18 months
ago, I presume they are still related). G77 and GCC compatibility is a
stated aim of the project, so fingers crossed we will be OK, but I don't
see any mention of %VAL, just Cray pointers.
