I'm not sure, but this error message sounds like there is a bug in JNIAST
(which doesn't necessarily mean that the simplification will work
if that bug is fixed, but it would be a good start).
Can you give me a copy of the offending code and I'll try it with
a version of JNIAST built against V3.2-15 to see if it fixes it.
Have there been any AST public API changes between 3.2-8 and 3.2-15?
