Thanks Richard. The final part of the discussion was not intended for
general broadcast but an off list discussion came back on list and I didn't
spot the change of addresses.
However, I am concerned when material is posted that concerns errors of
principle: we all make mistakes and I am the first to hold up my hand and
plead guilty. Nevertheless, my record of receiving so much as an
acknowledgement from the aforementioned web site (not bized!) is woeful so I
felt it my duty to advise colleagues of potential problems with the current
batch of materials.
You are right, I see no reason to close down tutor2u. As everyone here knows
tutor2u provides a valuable service in general even though they don't reply
to me!!!

Subject: Re Tutor2u & Bized
If I could declare an interest
1. I help set up Biz/ed and some of my materials are still on the site
2. I contribute to Tutor2U
Both sites are highly professional and relevant to their target markets with
Biz/ed focussing on HE & FE while T2U is more about A level & GCSE.
There are a lot of things Duncan takes issue with - that is why his views
are so refreshing and stimulating. I am sure he continues to have the
highest regard for T2U and would not wish to see it 'shut down'
As list co-owner I must ask member to refrain from making unsubstantiated
generalisations to the whole list - it is neither desirable nor appropriate.
Please do contact the T2U web coordinator Jim Riley ([log in to unmask])
with specific concerns He will be only to happy to correct any errors.

thanks duncan - interesting comments
soundslike i should take your advice in your email and treat anything
produced by tutr2u with suspicion. it is really worrying that people like
like that are pretending to produce materials for students and teachers.
we should get their website shut down if it doing this kind of damage

------------------
tutor2u provide an excellent service but they are now overstretching
themselves. Far better to use Bized since they have far superior quality
control over their materials.
The tutor2u presentations do look nice but they contain errors of principle
that I am sure the majority of students would not spot. The students will
then repeat the errors and lose marks, fail to understand when another
teacher tells them the truth ...
You could discuss with your students the real cost of a free good if that
free good is inherently flawed.
