I am sending this email to introduce myself to the list. I am the Records
Retention Manager, in Central Compliance, for Countrywide Financial
Corporation, a diversified financial services firm with mortgage
origination and servicing at its core. Since we have subsidiaries in the
UK I thought it would be instructive to sign on to this list to broaden my
perspective.
I have been in the records management and archives field for the last 25
years. However, my current position, which I have held for the last 6
months is the first one I have had that is strictly compliance and policy
(with no operational responsibilities). I am responsible for records
retention and a variety of related policy issues. I am not, however, the
firm's records manager. That role is filled by other corporate
stakeholders.
I am curious if this arrangement is as unusual in the UK as it seems to be
in my country.
