Is there a document repository currently available for LCG related
deployment information? The details in the mail you sent would benefit from
being available via a link from the GridPP pages - what do you think?

Subject: Support for ADS tape system at RAL within the UK.
Hi,
Some of you may be aware that there is now an interface (edg-se) into
the mass storage system at RAL that is available within LCG.
It is anticipated that the required updated client software will be
distributed within the next LCG release.
A presentation worth looking at to gain some understanding of state of
this next deployment is:
http://agenda.cern.ch/fullAgenda.php?ida=a042146
The outcome of that is that the next release is not around the corner and
so it is suggested that within the UK this small upgrade is completed
across sites.
The motivation for this is that both LHCb and Atlas data challenges wish
to make use of this now within their data challenges.
Here is how to do this installation, we have been running this version at
RAL now for a couple of weeks with no adverse problems. As I said earlier
this will be added to the next central release anyway.
For non lcfg installations see right down at the bottom.
1) Grab the rpms, these are
edg-replica-manager-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-test-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-gridftp-client_gcc3_2_2-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-config-1.6.20-1
and
edg-se-webservice-client-1.9.24-0
edg-se-webservice-interface-1.9.24-0
The first 4 are available from
/afs/cern.ch/project/gd/RpmDir/WP2
and should be put in /opt/local/linux/7.3/RPMS/WP2
on the LCFG.
The last two are available from
http://datagrid.in2p3.fr/distribution/datagrid/wp5/RPMS/
These two should be put into
/opt/local/linux/7.3/RPMS/WP5
on the LCFG server.
2) Create header files for these packages.
cd /opt/local/linux/7.3/RPMS/WP5 && make
cd /opt/local/linux/7.3/RPMS/WP3 && make
3) Modify the file RM-client-rpm.h on your LCFG server.
Change
edg-replica-manager-1.6.13-1
edg-replica-manager-config-1.6.13-1
edg-replica-manager-test-1.6.13-1
edg-replica-manager-gridftp-client_gcc3_2_2-1.6.13-1
to
edg-replica-manager-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-config-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-test-1.6.20-1
edg-replica-manager-gridftp-client_gcc3_2_2-1.6.20-1
edg-se-webservice-client-1.9.24-0
edg-se-webservice-interface-1.9.24-0
So in short add the edg-se-webservice client and upgrade the
edg-replica-manager.
4)Let people know you have installed it: In your site-cfg.h file
please add ADS to your list of available software environments.
#define CE_IP_RUNTIMEENV LCG-2 RAL RGMA ADS
Once the next LCG central release comes out then ADS will be an assumed
environment so can be deleted.
5) Finally compile your profiles and that should do everything for
you.
For non LCFG installs basically the 6 rpms above should be installed
on the WNs and UIs.
There is no configuration change anywhere.
Please get back with problems.
