this looks like it would cover interests in a number of things: video / art
practices, globalisation, surveillance, childhood..

We warmly invite you to an artist's talk at the FACT Centre, details below.
The Box, The FACT Centre, 88 Wood Street
FREE
MONDAY 17 MAY
6:30pm
Artist duo Mauricio Dias and Walter Riedweg will be talking about their
work, including a new FACT commission - a collaboration with young people
from Refugee Action, Liverpool. This piece will be presented at Tate
Liverpool as part of the Liverpool Biennial 2004.
Dias and Riedweg are based in Rio and have been collaborating since 1993.
They have exhibited internationally, most recently at MACBA (Museu d'Art
Contemporani de Barcelona). Past projects include collaborations with street
children in Rio's favelas, prisoners at Atlanta Federal Penitentiary with
teenagers from the Fulton County Child Treatment Centre, Atlanta and
chaperos
(male prostitutes) in Barcelona.
Devoting themselves to interactive visual and performance art works, Dias
& Riedweg are intensely interested in video installation as a way to
investigate the way that private psychologies affect public space. Their
work includes scientific documentation and complex dramatization, and is
distinctive for the direct involvement of the public in the working process.
